Our 3 Go-To Places to Buy Stylish (& Affordable) Art Frames

Updated: Mar 7, 2021

If you're like us then almost every wall in your house has at least one photo or art frame on it, and your desire to redecorate or change things up is always high! If you're like us then almost every wall in your house has at least one photo or art frame on it, and your desire to redecorate or change things up is always high! Our home collection of art frames are mostly modern designs in blacks, whites, and a few in dark brown wood which we like to coordinate together depending on the room.

Finding a great frame where you love both design and price can be challenging, so we're sharing our go-to places of where we buy our frames (and mat boards) that check off both of these things!

FUN FACT: All Lauren Baker Print & Design art prints come in standard print sizes - 8x10, 11x14, and 16x20 inches - to make finding a frame for your purchase that much easier!

IKEA (In-Person & Online)

With most of the frames in our home from IKEA, it’s definitely our #1 go-to. We like their frame designs for their clean modern look – they go well with just about any piece of artwork, as well as, look good in any room. They’re also fairly lightweight, easy to hang, and feel a bit more sturdy than other lower priced frames.

Our Favourites:

Michaels (In-Person & Online)

From supplies to make the art to frame the art – they really have it all. Frames at Michaels come in a variety of standard print sizes, but we find these frames are mostly “staple” frames with only a handful of unique frame designs. With Michaels, you can always add-on the art supplies to make your frame more customized to your liking though.

Our Favourites:

Wayfair (Online)

Wayfair may have a higher price point than IKEA and Michaels, but they do offer more unique art frames that you likely won’t find elsewhere – so perfect if you’re after something different than the norm.

Our Favourites:

*BONUS* Custom Mat (Online)

Many many times we’ve really liked an art frame, but the mat board didn’t work for the photo or artwork we wanted to put in, so we didn’t buy it. This resulted in our search for an art frame taking longer and sometimes ended up in us redesigning our frame layout to work with the frame sizes we could find.

When we discovered Custom Mat it was a game changer. We were able to buy the frames we wanted and then have a mat board created to match the size of the photo/artwork being framed. Their whole process was super easy too and everything fit perfect once the mat boards arrived.
